Lesson Journey Description: A series of 5 lessons that provide an introduction into ocean conservation, coding, design thinking, and entrepreneurship. For the lessons in this toolkit, youth will learn foundational concepts in environmental sustainability, robotics, AI and coding by exploring interactives, block coding, and programming, reading the environmental book, Plastics Ahoy!, watching self-guided videos and accessing freely available resources like Google’s Teachable Machine and Scratch. Each lesson runs ~60 minutes in length, so the AI & the Ocean Learning Journey will take about 5 hours to complete. A class computer or tablet (that can be projected) with speakers and internet access is recommended for all lessons. The book, Plastics Ahoy! By Patricia Newman, is optional to this learning journey.
