Join STEM next and AI for education for a three-part professional development series designed to strengthen AI literacy, confidence, and responsible AI practices among out-of-school time (OST) educators. Participants will explore generative AI fundamentals, apply the Safe, Ethical, and Effective (SEE) Framework, and consider how to support young people in navigating an increasingly AI-driven world. Through practical examples, interactive activities, and real-world scenarios, the series will help educators translate AI concepts into meaningful learning experiences.

Session 1: AI Literacy Foundations — Understanding Generative AI (December 10, 2026 2pm ET)

Build a shared understanding of generative AI, how it works, and its opportunities and limitations in out-of-school-time settings. Participants will explore common misconceptions, get familiar with popular AI tools, and learn how the SEE Framework supports safe, ethical, and effective AI use.

Session 2: Putting the SEE Framework into Practice — Supporting Youth in OST (December 14, 2026, 2pm ET)

Explore how to apply AI for Education’s SEE Framework (Safe, Ethical, and Effective) to guide responsible AI use in out-of-school-time settings. Participants will examine real-world scenarios involving youth, explore strategies for addressing bias and evaluating AI-generated content, and practice using the framework to make informed decisions. Through hands-on activities and ready-to-use resources, participants will gain practical strategies for helping young people navigate AI confidently and responsibly.

Session 3: Developing Future-Fluent Youth — Supporting AI Literacy Beyond the Program (December 16, 2026, 2pm ET)

Explore practical strategies for helping young people develop the knowledge, skills, and mindsets needed to navigate an AI-driven world. Participants will learn how to foster meaningful conversations about AI, model responsible use, and encourage ethical decision-making. With a focus on strengthening connections between OST programs, families, and schools, this session will highlight ready-to-use resources and approaches for supporting youth AI literacy beyond the program setting.
