Building on a Legacy of Impact STEM Next continues the legacy of the Noyce Foundation, which invested $75 million over 25 years to pioneer new ways of expanding out-of-school STEM learning. Today, STEM Next is the primary national leader dedicated to this work of advancing high-quality STEM learning through out-of-school programs.
STEM Next has brought together hundreds of partners across sectors and all 50 states to rapidly improve and expand out-of-school STEM opportunities. By uniting educators, policymakers, nonprofits, and industry partners around proven approaches and broad goals, we’re creating a comprehensive ecosystem of support—ensuring every child can develop the skills, confidence, and pathways to thrive in STEM.
Through our investments in data collection, we’ve gained critical insights into how to spark and sustain kids’ interest in STEM. We continue refining practices to ensure all young people have access to high-quality STEM experiences.
STEM Next has moved the out-of-school STEM field forward by scaling evidence-based approaches, building knowledge, and expanding capacity. In doing so, we’ve equipped hundreds of thousands of educators, leaders, and policymakers to deliver more effective programming and broaden access for millions more youth.
We have connected more than 12.5 million young people to the STEM learning opportunities they could not get in school, expanding their critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for the future.
Our theory of change in action has resulted in big impacts for millions of young people and hundreds of thousands of educators across the U.S. STEM Next is setting a new big goal to inspire 20 million more young people with STEM opportunities by 2030.
