Prepare for lesson:

1. Review video
   
2. Supplies for small groups:
   1. Shallow bowl (preferably light-colored)
   2. Handful of ground black pepper or dark-colored spice like paprika
   3. Dollop of dish soap

During the lesson:

1. Introduce the vocabulary words: hydrophilic and hydrophobic.
2. Ask youth to share some special characteristics of soap. 
3. Watch video together to explore more about soap.
   
4. Divide youth into small groups of 2-3
5. Distribute supplies to youth
6. Ask youth for examples of hydrophilic and hydrophobic chemicals in their everyday lives.
