Helena is interested in pursuing in social justice and critical disability studies.

“When my parents saw that educators were lowering standards for me because of my learning disabilities, they began to raise expectations at home and support me to succeed. Together, we confronted deficit ideology inside of school and have made real changes. Former teachers have told me how they changed their negative dispositions and teach differently to be more accommodating. My work in this has changed my life because I am now a global change maker in the field of Disability Justice.”
