Home > Resources Tools Explore Astronaut Health with Free STEM Activities for Afterschool Programs September 23, 2025 Keeping astronauts healthy in space takes science, math, and engineering, and your students can try it too. In this free, career-connected activity bundle created by STEM Next for afterschool programs, youth in grades 4–8 explore how the heart, blood, and circulatory system work, and how they are affected by gravity on Earth and in space. Across three one-hour sessions in our Keeping the Beat Activity Bundle, youth apply STEM practices, analyze patterns with math, and discover careers that support astronaut health and fitness. Adapted from NASA eClips, these lessons connect Earth and Space Learning with Health and Life Sciences, bringing real-world relevance to afterschool learning. Programs can use these resources all year long. They are also a great fit for celebrating World Space Week. Explore the Activity Bundle Access the World Space Week Toolkit
