STEM Next Opportunity Fund proudly announces Camsie McAdams as the inaugural Director of the Institute for a STEM Ready America, the latest exciting step in STEM Next’s journey to build a STEM-ready generation through afterschool and summer learning.
With over 25 years of leadership in STEM education, Camsie McAdams brings a wealth of expertise and a proven track record of nationwide impact. From serving as Deputy Director for STEM in the White House to leading global STEM initiatives at Discovery Education, Camsie has shaped policy, empowered educators, and inspired youth around the globe.
As Director of the Institute for a STEM Ready America, she will lead the Institute in its ambitious mission to excite 20 million young people through transformative out-of-school-time STEM experiences and connect them to the career opportunities of tomorrow.

The Institute for a STEM Ready America is STEM Next’s bold vision to transform STEM learning beyond the classroom. By uniting more than 100,000 afterschool and summer programs with industry leaders, employers, and policymakers, the Institute will strengthen the ecosystem that supports preparing youth for the future of work.
Young people spend 80% of their time outside the classroom, yet only 10% currently have access to high-quality STEM opportunities during these crucial hours. The need for innovative solutions to scale access to STEM learning in out-of-school time has never been greater. Under Camsie’s leadership, the Institute will offer a clear roadmap to bridge this gap and provide youth with STEM opportunities that inspire curiosity, innovation, and the critical thinking skills for whatever comes next.
